Before you apply

Every driver applying with Darien Logistics must read and agree to three things: the independent contractor terms, the privacy policy, and the driver safety rules. You will confirm you have read them inside the application.

Independent contractor terms

1. Independent contractor status. You are engaged as an independent contractor (Form 1099), not an employee. Nothing in this relationship creates an employment, partnership, or agency relationship. You are responsible for your own federal, state, and local taxes, including self-employment tax.

2. Your vehicle and expenses. You supply your own vehicle, fuel, insurance, phone, and data plan. Darien Logistics pays a per-package rate plus a daily fuel allowance as published in the driver portal; we do not otherwise reimburse operating costs.

3. Flexible schedule. You choose which routes and blocks to accept. Once you accept a route, you agree to complete it within the scheduled window or notify dispatch as early as possible if you cannot.

4. Pay. Approved routes are paid weekly by direct deposit to the bank account you link in the driver portal. Pay is calculated from completed, verified routes — packages delivered plus the daily fuel allowance — at the rates shown in the portal when the route was completed.

5. Insurance and licensing. You must hold a valid driver's license and maintain at least the legally required auto insurance at all times while driving routes. You must promptly report any suspension, lapse, or at-fault incident.

6. Background check. Driving is contingent on passing the Amazon Hub background check. Approval to drive is at Darien Logistics' discretion, and either side may end the relationship at any time.

7. Documents in the vehicle. You agree to keep the Vehicle Use Acknowledgement and Certification of Lease printed and in your vehicle whenever you are on a route.

Privacy policy

What we collect. Your application and profile details (name, phone, address, date of birth, driver's license, emergency contact), vehicle and insurance details, your W-9 and onboarding documents, route and delivery records, and proof-of-delivery photos you upload.

How we use it. To review your application, run background checks, schedule and pay you, meet tax-reporting obligations (Form 1099), and operate the delivery service. Your bank details are collected directly by our payment processor (Stripe) — Darien Logistics never sees or stores your bank account number.

What we never do. We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run the business (payment processing, background checks, email delivery) and where the law requires it.

Your choices. You can view and update your profile in the driver portal at any time. To ask about or delete your data, email info@darien-logistics.com.

Driver safety rules

1. Never drive distracted. No handheld phone use while the vehicle is moving. Pull over safely before checking the app, navigation, or messages.

2. Obey all traffic laws. Speed limits, seat belts, and parking rules apply on every route. Tickets and toll violations are your responsibility.

3. Secure your vehicle and packages. Lock the vehicle at every stop, keep packages out of sight, and never leave an unattended vehicle running.

4. Fit to drive. Never drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that impairs you, and do not drive when dangerously fatigued. If conditions feel unsafe — weather, a location, a situation — stop and contact dispatch.

5. Incidents. Report any accident, injury, or unsafe encounter to dispatch immediately, and call 911 first in an emergency.

6. Professional conduct. Be courteous at every doorstep. Do not enter homes, and follow all delivery instructions exactly as shown in the app.
